What a joy it is for us to know that one of our best friends of all the books in our library will be back in print within the next month! For all of you bibliophiles out there, you will understand my use of that phrase “best friends.” It is one defining characteristic of a truly living book that after reading the story it leaves its mark on you, changes you (hopefully for the better). It doesn’t seem far-fetched to think of a book as a person, indeed a friend. I, Emily, have been known to force this book upon book-loving friends saying, “If you believe that anyone can change the world, no matter how small, you must read this book to your children.” In fact, I don’t like to say too much about it so as to save the wonder and beauty for each person to experience for himself. I do, however, consider it to be a PERFECT book.
I still remember the day I read this gem for the first time. It was a plain, cream colored book with a simple embossed pine tree on the front cover, an intriguing font displayed the title on the spine. I bought the book because I recognized the author’s name. I picked it up one night, completely unsuspecting what treasure I would discover in its pages. I read it in one sitting, finishing well after midnight, and I have to admit that I cried myself to sleep for the beauty that was exemplified by this book. Since then I have been singing its praises, with a bit of sorrow knowing that there have only been limited copies available, it has been out of print. I wish everyone could read this book!
Well, we are much closer to that goal! Purple House Press has worked hard to bring it back into print. Paperback copies will be available in early November! Living Books Library has been partnering with PHP to spread the word and help to publicize this book’s launch. We are offering a discount on pre-ordered copies of A Tree for Peter through our website now through October 31, 2014. For only 10.95 $9.00 (plus $3.00 shipping), you will receive one of the very first copies available of the new edition! PREORDERS are closed now. We will be offering regularly priced copies once they arrive from the printer.
Use the link above to place your order today. If you would like to order MULTIPLE copies, please send an email to info@livingbookslibrary.com, and we will calulate shipping for you (it will be significantly less than $3.00 per book), and send you directions for completing your order.
If you’d like to read more about this lovely book we have written a few blogs here and here, and I wrote a guest post on a friend’s blog here. Copies will still be available after 10/31/2014 for $10.95 + shipping via www.livingbookslibrary.com.
