His Enemy, His Friend

This book is about a young Sergeant in the German army who is stationed in a small village where later he is made to kill six of his friends: an old farmer, the school teacher, the village priest, the owner of a cafe, a fisherman, and a young boy.  The end gets a lot better than the beginning.  The reason I like the book is for the way he cares for his sport (soccer) and how the son of the teacher forgives him in the end.  Overall I would recommend this book anyone.  I think all (that I’ve read) of Tunis’s books are excellent.
